The position is permanent and full-time in an aged care setting, with an Australian-owned contract catering provider that has 25 years of experience in aged care, education, retail and remote services.
Working Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:30 pm, you will hold full responsibility for the kitchen: organising the day, leading bulk production, building texture-modified meals for residents with individual diets and keeping food safety standards high. Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the kitchen, deciding each day's plan and sequence of work without oversight
- Lead large-volume production as the senior cook on site
- Turn out freshly made, wholesome dishes during a demanding service
- Design modified-texture plates suited to every resident's diet, following the agreed benchmarks
- Set and enforce hygiene, cleaning and safe food handling practice
- Build good relationships with residents and clients through courteous service
- Lift mealtimes into something residents look forward to
- Keep individual diets at the centre of menu decisions
Requirements & Eligibility
- Holds a recognised commercial cookery trade qualification together with a current Food Safety Supervisor qualification
- Track record covering food prep, bulk cooking and the running of kitchen operations
- Sound grasp of texture-modified diets and how individual dietary requirements are met
- Strong skills in communication and in customer service
- Comfortable working independently, managing priorities and upholding high standards
- Holds a current National Criminal History Check and can satisfy the flu vaccination requirements of the site
