For a section chef planning the next stage of a culinary career, this Chef de Partie opening offers permanent, full-time work at an iconic, historic waterfront hotel in Northland, New Zealand. The contracted week is 30 hours.
The position carries clear responsibility: you lead your own section, manage its stock for quality and quantity, and see that every element of each dish is completed to standard and on time. There is also room to shape the menu, with ideas and new items welcomed when the senior chefs invite them, and to develop junior staff.
You will join a supportive, professional brigade that values fresh, seasonal food and consistent standards. The employer prefers applicants with New Zealand work eligibility, while noting that sponsorship may be considered.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop a thorough knowledge of the core and daily menus, functions and specials
- Contribute ideas for new dishes and present menu items when invited
- Prepare the section for daily service, functions and special requirements
- Maintain stock of the correct quality and quantity, and escalate shortfalls to the Head or Sous Chef
- Ensure each element is cooked correctly, meets the standard and is delivered on time
- Adhere to recipes and the Food Control Plan, maintain clean preparation and service areas, and prepare raw materials and stock to demand while minimising waste
- Mentor junior staff in performing their duties correctly and report maintenance issues
Requirements & Eligibility
- Professional experience as a Chef de Partie in a quality kitchen
