For a cook ready to take full responsibility for a section, this Chef de Partie role in Melbourne is a solid career step. An established and growing Italian restaurant group is recruiting a Chef de Partie or Senior Chef de Partie for its founding restaurant, a long-standing pasta bar.
The successful chef will lead either the pans (pasta) or the larder section independently and bring genuine depth in Italian food and culture. Fresh pasta is produced in-house each day in a brand new kitchen, with ingredients from artisan Italian producers and local farms.
The engagement starts as casual work of up to 40 hours per week on a regular roster, and full-time contracts are assessed after a trial of at least four weeks. Remuneration reflects skills, palate, teamwork, experience and work ethic, and visa sponsorship is available for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the pans or larder section independently through service
- Plan and complete pre-service prep and mise en place
- Take ownership of the quality of each dish from your section
- Work in close partnership with the Sous Chef during prep and service
- Maintain hygiene and food safety standards in a clean kitchen, and contribute to a positive, motivated team while continuing to learn
Requirements & Eligibility
- Relevant qualifications
- Solid industry training
- Experience running a section during high-volume service
- Ability to work independently and in an organised way
- Strong communication skills
- Genuine interest in Italian culture and cuisine and in the provenance of good produce
- Good knowledge of safe food handling and hygiene, and a team player who also adds a lot as an individual
