The core of the work is precise plant operation on excavators, pumps and small plant around underground services and live water infrastructure. Prior reticulation experience is not a prerequisite. Key Responsibilities

  • Operate excavators, small plant, pumps and associated equipment with precision.
  • Work around underground services and live water infrastructure in line with safe practice.
  • Deliver water network maintenance and diagnose faults.
  • Install, repair and replace water pipes and associated components.
  • Apply the controls that protect drinking-water quality during maintenance and repairs.
  • Participate in on-call and after-hours work while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Enjoys hands-on work outdoors and is ready to get stuck in.
  • Confident using tools and machinery and comfortable diagnosing faults.
  • Committed to completing work safely and to a high standard.
  • Competent, safe operation of excavators, diggers and other small plant.
  • Experience with compaction equipment, pumps and water-related machinery.
  • Understands water mains, service connections, valves, hydrants and fittings.
  • Capable of installing, repairing and replacing water pipes and associated components.
  • Understands the procedures that protect drinking-water quality during maintenance and repairs.
  • Able to interpret network plans, drawings and underground service information.
  • Preferred: Class 1 Driver Licence.
  • Preferred: a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Preferred: a strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
  • Preferred: good practical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ideally, effective both independently and within a team.
  • Ideally, a strong commitment to health and safety.
  • Ideally, good physical fitness and the ability to work outdoors.
