For a Registered Nurse looking to build a long-term career in Australian primary care, this full-time, permanent post in a general practice near Newcastle, New South Wales offers a broad scope of practice.
The role spans clinical and coordination work: triage, chronic disease management plans, health assessments, ECG and spirometry testing, IV iron infusions and venesections, wound management and immunisations for all ages. It also covers the recall system, stock, ordering and cold chain management.
General practice experience is preferable, though on-the-job training will be provided for the right candidate, which makes this a realistic step for hospital-trained nurses moving into primary care. Temporary Residence / Permanent Residence sponsorship is available for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities
- Liaise with patients and answer phones as required
- Triage presenting patients
- Develop chronic disease management plans
- Conduct health assessments
- Operate the recall and reminder system
- Oversee stock control and ordering
- Maintain cold chain management
- Perform ECG and spirometry tests
- Administer IV procedures, namely iron infusions and venesections
- Provide wound management
- Deliver immunisations, including childhood immunisations
- Assist with minor procedures, maintain practice equipment and support the GPs and other staff
Requirements & Eligibility
- Unconditional registration with AHPRA, current
- Current immunisations certificate, or willingness to complete the relevant training
- CPR certificate
- Current Working with Children Check
- Good work ethic
- Organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work autonomously
- Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Experience in general practice is preferable
