For a coffee professional ready to move from running a bar to shaping a whole coffee programme, this Barista role in Cairns is a step up in responsibility. A specialty roaster in Far North Queensland is filling several vacant positions.
The post pairs leadership with craft: you hold quality and efficiency, develop the baristas around you and contribute to product innovation, on a roster of 5am to 2pm Monday to Friday plus weekend availability.
For the longer pathway, note that the positions are eligible for employee sponsorship under the Far North Queensland Designated Area Migration Agreement (FNQ DAMA).

Key Responsibilities
- Develop, upskill and manage the barista team
- Deliver a genuine, efficient, top-tier coffee experience to each customer
- Lead QC cupping sessions, work closely with the roasting team and assist with green bean purchasing selections
- Handle production roasting as required and uphold WH&S standards
Requirements & Eligibility
- Experience and in-depth knowledge of specialty coffee; a Q-grader, cupping, competition, barista-training or roasting record is highly advantageous
- Leadership and team-building skills, proven, together with a love of people and customer service
- Strong time management and organisational skills, a growth mindset and willingness to start at 5am
