Midwives are integral to the care team here. Working alongside experienced healthcare professionals, you will support women and families through pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period. Structured clinical support, ongoing professional development and mentorship offer a clear opportunity to build specialist expertise in maternity and newborn care over the long term.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with obstetric, nursing, neonatal and allied health colleagues
  • Deliver safe, respectful midwifery care grounded in evidence
  • Provide comprehensive antenatal care
  • Provide intrapartum care through labour and birth, respecting each woman's individual preferences and care plan
  • Provide comprehensive postnatal care
  • Assess and monitor maternal and newborn wellbeing
  • Recognise clinical concerns and escalate them appropriately
  • Educate women and their families and offer emotional support
  • Assist with newborn care, breastfeeding support and early parenting needs
  • Maintain precise clinical documentation and patient records
  • Engage in clinical education and continuous professional development
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and a positive maternity care environment
  • Guide and support student and graduate midwives where appropriate

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Midwife
  • A Midwifery qualification that is recognised
  • Demonstrated experience in the delivery of maternity care
  • Strong commitment to woman-centred practice
  • Strong commitment to evidence-based practice
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal capability
  • Capacity to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
  • Dedication to keeping professional knowledge and clinical competencies current
  • Experience in birth suite, antenatal, postnatal or special care nursery settings is highly regarded
  • Capacity to work permanent full-time, part-time or casual hours
  • Visa sponsorship will be considered for eligible onshore applicants who require it
  • Ability to satisfy Australian professional registration and employment requirements
