Disability Support Worker

It pairs one capable, verified care professional with a participant who needs dedicated support to strengthen daily living skills, communication and independence.

The participant is a young person with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and the focus is on structured assistance within a safe, supportive environment that encourages progress, confidence and personal development. Shifts are flexible across daytime and after-school schedules.

Sponsorship is available for eligible international applicants, including care professionals from India, who demonstrate proven experience, strong communication skills and genuine commitment to disability support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a consistent, respectful and trusting relationship with the participant
  • Deliver reliable one-on-one support tailored to the participant's individual needs and routines
  • Promote independence through everyday activities and targeted skill-building
  • Support communication challenges and sensory or behavioural needs, recognising changes in behaviour and responding with patience and professionalism
  • Apply positive support approaches and appropriate redirection strategies where needed
  • Interpret and adhere to Behaviour Support Plans and care instructions
  • Facilitate participation in meaningful activities that build confidence and engagement
  • Maintain open communication with families, carers and the broader support network
  • Complete precise shift notes, reports and required documentation

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Demonstrated experience supporting individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience in disability support or a comparable care environment
  • Experience supporting participants who require communication support and behaviour management
  • Ability to apply established support strategies and care plans with confidence
  • Strong English skills, with clear communication in professional settings
  • A dependable, patient, understanding and compassionate approach to disability care, committed to consistent participant support
  • Ability to work autonomously while contributing positively to a support team
  • Relevant qualifications or practical disability support experience preferred
  • Eligibility for sponsorship opportunities as a suitable verified applicant with the required experience and skills
