The employer is a well-established Australian heavy vehicle business adding Heavy Vehicle Mechanics to its Queensland team.
The scope is broad, spanning diagnostics, servicing, repairs, rebuilds and breakdown assistance. Applicants should demonstrate genuine workshop experience, practical diagnostic capability and a record of reliable results in a professional environment.
Experienced heavy vehicle mechanics from India and other countries are encouraged to apply, with sponsorship available for eligible overseas candidates.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine servicing and preventative maintenance programmes
- Diagnose faults across heavy commercial vehicles and associated systems
- Execute mechanical repairs, component replacements and rebuilds
- Work in accordance with manufacturer specifications
- Test and inspect vehicles on completion of repairs
- Pinpoint and resolve mechanical issues efficiently
- Maintain accurate job cards and workshop documentation
- Respond to breakdowns at customer or offsite locations when required, and participate in the on-call roster
- Uphold high standards of safety, workmanship and technical accuracy
- Collaborate with fellow technicians and workshop personnel
- Contribute to the hands-on training and development of apprentices
- Provide clear, professional updates to customers on completed work
Requirements & Eligibility
- Proven practical background in repairing and maintaining heavy vehicles
- Recognised Heavy Vehicle Mechanic qualification or a relevant mechanical qualification
- Capacity to demonstrate and verify previous trade experience, supported by documentation for qualifications and employment history
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving capability in mechanical work
- Good working understanding of workshop safety and quality procedures
- A reliable, team-focused work style with professional communication and customer service skills
- A current car licence
- An HR licence is desirable
- A Forklift licence is desirable
- Experience with Kenworth or DAF vehicles is desirable
- Experienced overseas heavy vehicle mechanics are invited to apply
- Interstate heavy vehicle mechanics are also invited to apply
- Mechanic apprentices from second to fourth year may also be considered
- Willingness to complete ongoing technical and manufacturer training
