Switchboard Electrician & HV/MV Electrical Engineer

Key Responsibilities

  • Switchboard Electrician – assembling and modifying switchboards, MCCs and control panels
  • Switchboard Electrician – reading electrical schematics, single line diagrams and wiring drawings to guide builds and tests
  • Switchboard Electrician – testing LV, MV and HV switchboards ahead of delivery and installation
  • Switchboard Electrician – inspecting switchboards and transportable switchrooms against electrical and mechanical compliance requirements
  • Switchboard Electrician – conducting insulation resistance and continuity tests
  • Switchboard Electrician – performing polarity, phase rotation and earth continuity checks
  • Switchboard Electrician – testing control circuits and operational functions, and verifying protection relays and associated electrical systems
  • Switchboard Electrician – diagnosing and rectifying wiring, electrical and functional faults
  • Switchboard Electrician – carrying out Factory Acceptance Testing, recording outcomes and preparing commissioning documentation
  • Switchboard Electrician – meeting relevant Australian Standards and project specifications in all work
  • Switchboard Electrician – supporting on-site installation and commissioning, including shutdowns and after-hours commissioning when needed
  • Switchboard Electrician – coaching apprentices and junior electrical team members
  • HV/MV Electrical Engineer – contributing to engineering activities for HV and MV electrical infrastructure, including switchboards, switchgear, substations and transportable systems
  • HV/MV Electrical Engineer – participating in power distribution and protection and control projects
  • HV/MV Electrical Engineer – assessing electrical drawings, specifications and technical documentation
  • HV/MV Electrical Engineer – applying relevant Australian Standards and project requirements
  • HV/MV Electrical Engineer – offering technical support to manufacturing and production teams, and resolving technical issues alongside testing and commissioning personnel
  • HV/MV Electrical Engineer – collaborating with project managers, fellow engineers, production and quality teams
  • HV/MV Electrical Engineer – investigating technical problems, devising practical solutions and assisting with engineering solutions for industrial and infrastructure projects
  • HV/MV Electrical Engineer – driving engineering improvements and project optimisation to help deliver complex electrical infrastructure projects successfully

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Switchboard Electrician: Current Queensland Electrical Work Licence, held as an Electrical Mechanic or Electrical Fitter
  • Switchboard Electrician: Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician or Electrical Fitting
  • A minimum 3 years of industry experience across industrial switchboard manufacturing, testing or commissioning
  • Proven hands-on capability with LV switchboards and MCCs
  • Practical experience in electrical testing, commissioning and fault finding
  • Knowledge or experience with MV/HV equipment: highly regarded
  • Industrial control systems experience: advantageous
  • Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams and single line diagrams with confidence
  • Working knowledge of AS/NZS 61439, AS/NZS 3000 and the relevant Australian Standards
  • Up-to-date CPR/LVR certification
  • A safety-first, quality-focused approach to electrical work
  • Adaptable to both workshop and site settings
  • Open to occasional travel for commissioning and project requirements
  • HV/MV Electrical Engineer: Australian registration as an Electrical Engineer
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in industry
  • Hands-on involvement with HV and/or MV electrical systems
  • Background in switchboards, switchgear, substations, protection and control or power distribution
  • Capable of interpreting electrical drawings and engineering specifications
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability on technical matters
  • Sound understanding of applicable Australian Standards
  • Collaborative working style with engineering and manufacturing teams
  • Clear written and verbal communication
  • Versatility across engineering, manufacturing, testing and project environments
  • Current Subclass 482 visa holders are welcome to apply
