In this position you will assist individuals with daily activities, community participation, wellbeing goals and personal development. Key Responsibilities
- Deliver person-centred care reliably and uphold professional standards in every interaction
- Partner with clients on daily living activities, personal goals and participation in their community
- Provide support to individuals with disabilities, mental health needs and complex care requirements
- Offer compassionate assistance in community, residential and healthcare settings and across varied healthcare and community environments
- Handle challenging situations and behavioural support needs with a calm, professional approach
- Champion independence, dignity, wellbeing and inclusion for every client
- Motivate clients to reach their personal goals and sustain meaningful lifestyles
- Establish positive, respectful working relationships with service users, families and support networks
- Adhere to care plans, workplace procedures and health and safety requirements
- Keep precise documentation and maintain effective communication with healthcare teams
Requirements & Eligibility
- Minimum 6 months' background as a Mental Health Assistant, Healthcare Assistant, Disability Support Worker, Community Support Worker or comparable role
- Highly regarded: prior experience with people who have complex needs, disabilities or mental health requirements
- Capacity to work across different community, disability, mental health and healthcare settings
- Readiness to commit to regular shifts and keep your availability reliable
- Flexibility across a range of shifts, including weekends when required
- Capacity to comply with safe working hour requirements and manage availability responsibly
- Strong communication, a caring, respectful and professional manner, and composure and effectiveness in challenging situations
- Commitment to high-quality, person-centred support
- Full New Zealand Driver's Licence, along with confidence driving service vehicles where required
