Sous Chef

Hospitality · Clarence Park, Adelaide SA, Australia · Full-Time · $70,000 - $80,000/yr

Career progression in kitchens often comes at the cost of late nights. This role is different: a fresh, energetic food operation in South Australia wants an experienced Chef de Partie or emerging Sous Chef ready to step up, with a predictable schedule of 38 hours over five days and most shifts ending around 3:30pm.

Working closely with the Head Chef, you will gain hands-on leadership experience by taking charge of the kitchen and making decisions during service. A varied deli, café and sandwich-style offering leaves room for creativity. Chefs from India and elsewhere looking for their next step should take a closer look.

  • Complete preparation and mise en place ahead of service
  • Contribute ideas for specials, dishes and kitchen improvements
  • Ensure food is produced efficiently and presented to a high standard
  • Monitor ingredient usage to minimise wastage and assist with ordering and stock management
  • Uphold hygiene and food safety requirements while keeping kitchen areas service-ready, clean and organised
  • Work calmly and efficiently through busy periods while maintaining high standards throughout service
  • Mentor and support less experienced team members where required
