Engineers who want to progress toward senior site and project engineering roles can gain valuable exposure to major infrastructure works in this position. An established infrastructure construction business is recruiting an experienced Site Engineer for structural concrete and civil infrastructure projects in the ACT.

Candidates need genuine site-based experience, sound technical knowledge and the capability to own engineering and quality requirements from construction to completion. Partnering with project management and site delivery teams, you will contribute to quality assurance, technical coordination, construction planning, documentation and daily project progress.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee engineering activities for structural concrete and civil infrastructure works
Align site engineering requirements with project managers, supervisors and construction crews
Establish and uphold project quality assurance procedures and ITP requirements
Administer inspection requests, hold and witness points and construction quality records
Compile lot documentation, conformance records and project handover packages
Identify and log non-conformances and contribute to their resolution
Assess construction drawings, structural details, specifications and project requirements
Issue RFIs and manage technical queries with clients, consultants and contractors
Support reinforcement, formwork and concrete construction from an engineering perspective
Contribute to site setout and the verification of completed works
Inspect reinforcement installation for conformity with approved drawings and specifications
Measure progress against the program and escalate potential delays
Plan the materials, plant and consumables that scheduled site activities require
Attend site inspections, coordination meetings and progress reviews while acting as a technical resource for site supervision and construction teams
Maintain precise engineering, quality and project records and support safety and environmental compliance on site
Build effective working relationships with head contractors, subcontractors and project stakeholders
Drive quality, program and delivery outcomes with the project team and contribute to continuous improvement across engineering and construction processes

Requirements & Eligibility

Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a Structural Engineering-related discipline
Minimum 2 years' Australian Site Engineer experience across structural concrete or civil infrastructure projects
A demonstrated, practical grasp of construction engineering and site delivery
In-depth knowledge of QA systems, ITPs, inspections and construction documentation
Capability to read and interpret structural drawings and technical specifications
A track record managing RFIs, technical queries and non-conformance processes
Strong written and verbal communication, organisational and documentation skills
White Card and current driver's licence
Capacity to obtain the required ACT site inductions and project access clearances
Effectiveness on active construction sites, with a professional and reliable approach to project responsibilities
Strong teamwork and stakeholder communication skills
Commitment to continued learning and professional development
Bridge construction experience is highly regarded
Dams, spillways or water infrastructure experience is highly regarded
Experience with Tier 1 or Tier 2 head contractors, and in reinforcement scheduling, procurement, fixing supervision and quality control, is highly regarded
