Sheetmetal Tradesperson/CNC Operator

Key Responsibilities

  • Read technical drawings and production specifications before and during each job
  • Prepare equipment for the production schedule and operate CNC punch, laser, tube laser and press brake machinery
  • Inspect and measure components across the manufacturing process
  • Deliver accurate production quality on a consistent basis
  • Recognise production issues and address them where appropriate
  • Comply with safe operating procedures and workplace requirements, and keep the production area clean, tidy and organised
  • Collaborate with production colleagues to achieve daily targets
  • Draw on practical trade knowledge to lift manufacturing outcomes
  • Recommend safer, faster and more effective ways to complete tasks and contribute to continuous improvement across production processes

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Demonstrable technical knowledge of the sheet metal manufacturing process
  • At least 2 years of practical, hands-on experience in CNC operation
  • Candidates with 2+ years of relevant sheet metal trades experience may also be considered
  • A background with punch, laser, tube laser or press brake machinery
  • Trumpf machine experience is highly desirable
  • A strong eye for precision and a first-time-right standard of workmanship
  • Capable of following technical instructions and production specifications
  • A firm commitment to quality standards and workplace safety
  • An effective team player in a production setting who will contribute practical process-improvement ideas
  • Open to fixed day, night or graveyard shifts
  • Capacity to work at least 40 hours per week
  • Applicants who need sponsorship must satisfy the relevant New Zealand visa requirements
