Service Technician

Key Responsibilities

  • Commission crane control systems, then test and troubleshoot them
  • Pinpoint the cause of electrical faults affecting overhead cranes, hoists and other industrial lifting equipment
  • Draw on electrical diagnostic skills to isolate and resolve complex equipment faults
  • Restore equipment through breakdown repairs and emergency call-outs
  • Complete scheduled preventative maintenance, electrical inspections and equipment servicing to required standards
  • Work across PLCs, motors, contactors, VSDs, limit switches and associated controls
  • Document every job through precise service reports and maintenance records
  • Travel to client locations in the metropolitan area and the regions
  • Make occasional interstate trips when the work calls for it
  • Share on-call duties as part of a rotating roster
  • Put in additional hours, including guaranteed overtime, as needed

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Cert III in Electrotechnology, or a qualification equivalent to it
  • Holding a Current Electrical Licence or Provisional Electrical Licence
  • A proven track record in industrial electrical work
  • Hands-on PLC fault-finding capability, with a demonstrated ability to independently diagnose electrical problems
  • Practical exposure to industrial motors and control systems combined with strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability
  • Capacity to work without supervision and maintain professional customer relationships, along with a readiness to learn overhead crane and lifting equipment technology
  • Prepared to travel outside metropolitan areas for approximately 10–30% of the time
  • Sponsorship may be considered for suitable candidates whose qualifications are verified and whose experience is relevant
