Rope Access Technician

For technicians aiming to broaden their technical expertise, this role with a specialist technical services employer in North Shore City, Auckland offers exposure to a varied project portfolio across buildings, industrial sites and major infrastructure.

The employer is seeking experienced Rope Access Technicians with a strong track record of safe, effective work in challenging environments, whose skills are supported by recognised qualifications and verifiable industry experience.

Assignments range from inspecting structures at height to maintenance, remedial and safety-system projects, all completed alongside a capable professional team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate on-site conditions and devise workable approaches to access and task challenges
  • Deliver industrial rope access work across a diverse mix of locations
  • Inspect structures, buildings and façades, and contribute to bridge and infrastructure inspection assignments
  • Handle industrial maintenance, inspection and repair tasks
  • Take on waterproofing and remedial assignments
  • Fit, examine and service height-safety systems
  • Rig and verify rope access gear and work-at-height systems before use
  • Reach elevated, restricted and hard-to-reach locations without compromising safety
  • Document each project accurately through records, photographs and site paperwork
  • Comply with applicable rope access standards and workplace safety obligations
  • Produce workmanship of a high standard on every project you are assigned
  • Keep communication professional with supervisors, team members and clients
  • Operate autonomously without compromising the required safety and quality standards
  • Travel across New Zealand to project sites as needed, with occasional overnight stays where accommodation and applicable allowances are provided

Requirements & Eligibility

  • IRATA Rope Access qualification that is current and valid
  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on rope access experience, verifiable through your work history
  • Proven record of rope access-based work carried out in professional settings
  • Supporting evidence for your qualifications and employment history
  • Holders of the New Zealand Certificate in Industrial Rope Access (Level 4) are also considered
  • Thorough knowledge of safe practice when working at height, plus personal accountability for safety and quality
  • Composure in demanding site environments that change frequently
  • A practical, solutions-focused mindset
  • Capable of performing autonomously or within a technical team, communicating to a professional standard
  • Holding a current driver's licence is advantageous but not essential
  • Professional-level English proficiency is advantageous, though not essential
  • Trade qualifications or trade experience of relevance are advantageous
  • Further training in construction, inspection, industrial or height-safety areas is advantageous
  • Readiness to travel within New Zealand as project demands require
  • Capacity to fulfil relevant New Zealand immigration requirements in cases where sponsorship is required
