Key Responsibilities
- Tailor responsive, respectful care to every infant, including their personal routines around comfort, sleep, care and wellbeing
- Develop trusting bonds with tamariki and whanau, and keep whanau informed through consistent, professional communication
- Curate a secure, inviting and stimulating space, offering learning experiences that spark exploration and growth
- Track each child's interests, behaviour and developmental milestones, and let these observations drive planning and intentional teaching
- Keep learning stories, assessments, records and other documentation precise
- Celebrate the identity, language, culture and background of every child, weaving culturally responsive methods into everyday teaching
- Model and deepen bicultural practice that honours Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- Partner with fellow educators so education and care stay of a high standard
- Contribute to team conversations, centre events, meetings and day-to-day running of the centre
- Evaluate your own teaching, pinpoint areas for improvement and engage in professional learning that promotes continuous development
- Foster a team culture that is positive, respectful and collaborative
Requirements & Eligibility
- Recognised Early Childhood Education qualification
- Full and current New Zealand Teacher Practising Certificate
- Relevant background in early childhood settings, with particular exposure to infants
- In-depth knowledge of how infants learn and develop, and of responsive caregiving
- Real enthusiasm for nurturing babies and young children, together with a proven ability to form positive bonds with tamariki and whanau
- Clear verbal and written communication
- Assurance across planning, assessment, observation and documentation
- Evidence of culturally responsive teaching, and dedication to bicultural practice and Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- A professional, organised, calm, adaptable and reflective manner, and the capacity to contribute effectively within an education team
- Readiness to pursue continuing professional development
