Senior mining leaders seeking the next stage of an international career should look closely at this opening. A globally recognised underground mining contractor needs an experienced Project Manager to head up a major hard rock operation underground in Ontario, Canada.

In this residential leadership role, reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the site as a whole: underground mining delivered safely and efficiently, alongside financial results, client relationships, operational excellence and the development of the workforce. The package combines visa sponsorship and relocation assistance with accommodation support, performance incentives and the prospect of long-term career growth. Key Responsibilities

Take ownership of the project's finances, from budgets and forecasts to cost control, so targets are met safely, efficiently and without overspending
Direct every underground activity on site, development and production alike
Champion safety through visible leadership, embedding a strong safety culture operation-wide
Measure how the operation performs and lead initiatives that keep improving it
Optimise the deployment of mining equipment and operational resources for higher productivity
Coach and grow high-performing leaders and site crews, while steering recruitment, workforce planning and succession planning
Sustain strong client partnerships through open communication and close collaboration
Assess risks to the operation and introduce practical measures to reduce them
Uphold the requirements of applicable mining legislation, company policy and site safety systems
Oversee contract administration, along with reporting and performance tracking
Raise standards of safety, productivity and quality to achieve operational excellence, and foster a positive workplace culture where teamwork and continuous improvement thrive

Requirements & Eligibility

Proven strength in budgets, financial management and commercially sound decision-making
Extensive background in hard rock underground mining operations
Prior experience holding a senior leadership role on a mining site or in project management
Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or another relevant field
Substantial experience overseeing client relationships and contracts in underground mining
Demonstrated capacity to build and lead teams that perform at a high level
Excellent communicator, skilled at stakeholder management
Comprehensive knowledge of safety systems and compliance obligations specific to underground mining
Capacity to relocate internationally
Experience spanning both development and production work underground
Background in project management and operational reporting
Leadership experience gained in international mining will be highly regarded
A Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency will be highly regarded, as will an Underground Supervisor's Certificate of Competency
Advantageous: experience with mining management software
