Project Manager

Construction · Auckland CBD, Auckland, New Zealand · Full-Time · $25/hr

Senior project professionals seeking their next career milestone will find it here: a Senior Project Manager position in Auckland overseeing technically complex building projects for a diverse portfolio of high-profile facilities.

The employer wants a practitioner whose track record spans construction, renewal, refurbishment or building-services delivery, and who can weigh technical requirements against commercial and operational priorities.

Evaluation focuses on genuine, verified capability rather than title-matching, an approach that rewards professionals from India and other countries whose careers rest on real project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the client's lead on major physical works, with full accountability for delivery
  • Shape each project's scope and allocate resources, budgets and programmes against a clear delivery strategy
  • Direct multidisciplinary teams while aligning contractors, consultants and stakeholders
  • Govern cost, time, risk and quality to secure the intended outcomes
  • Lead construction and renewal activity across facilities that remain operational
  • Evaluate the technical and building-services implications of each scope
  • Integrate electrical, mechanical, structural, fire and water-related works
  • Safeguard regulatory and building compliance, along with contractual obligations and project records
  • Steer stakeholder expectations through clear communication
  • Report accurately on project and financial performance, and hold contractors and consultants to account on theirs
  • Work through technical and delivery obstacles
  • Run several projects in parallel while keeping live environments operating without disruption
  • Foster knowledge sharing and the development of colleagues

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Project management experience at a senior level within construction or building environments
  • A demonstrated record of taking complex projects from planning through to completion
  • In-depth understanding of building construction and renewal works
  • Technical expertise in building services and critical systems
  • Prior delivery of projects in complex or publicly accessible facilities is preferred
  • Working knowledge of New Zealand building regulations and compliance requirements
  • Familiarity with contracts under NZS 3910
  • Commercial and financial awareness of a high order, together with excellent communication and stakeholder management
  • Sound judgement in problem-solving and decision-making, and the capacity to balance competing priorities and deadlines
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Project Management, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline is preferred
  • A verifiable career history. Overseas applicants may be considered and sponsorship is available for suitable candidates
