The person appointed will join a professional repair workshop handling a variety of smash and body jobs, putting practical expertise to use beside experienced colleagues. It is a supportive setting where professionals from India and elsewhere can build a lasting career.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess each damaged vehicle and study its job sheet before work starts, confirming every part delivered is right, fit for purpose and without defects
  • Strip down vehicles as the repair instructions and job specify, taking off damaged panels, frames and other parts
  • Fix, swap out and refit body panels and structural parts, and assist with frame alignment, rust treatment and structural work where needed
  • Shape, cut, straighten and weld metal, and complete fabrication and repair tasks using suitable workshop tools and methods
  • Handle filler application, sanding and surface prep on vehicle bodies
  • Rebuild vehicles carefully once the repair is finished
  • Produce work that satisfies quality and industry benchmarks, treating customer and company vehicles carefully throughout
  • Operate workshop tools and equipment correctly and keep them, and your work area, safe, clean, tidy and in running order
  • Adhere to all workplace health and safety procedures, PPE included
  • Collaborate with colleagues to keep the workshop efficient while expanding your understanding of current repair methods and industry practice

Requirements & Eligibility

  • A recognised Panel Beater trade qualification, or industry experience of an equivalent standard
  • A proven track record in smash repairs and automotive panel beating, with relevant work history and professional identity you can demonstrate and verify
  • In-depth knowledge of techniques for vehicle body repair and panel replacement
  • Practical capability in fabrication, welding, cutting and metal shaping
  • Sound grasp of rust treatment, frame alignment and structural repair
  • Competence in surface preparation, sanding and applying body filler
  • Capacity to take vehicle components apart and put them back together accurately
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to top-quality workmanship
  • Safe, responsible handling of tools and workshop equipment, underpinned by a commitment to workplace safety and OH&S requirements
  • Reliability, motivation and professionalism, supported by good communication and teamwork skills
  • Willingness to participate in the employer’s candidate verification and assessment process; employer sponsorship may be available to the right eligible candidate
