Operations Manager

Core accountabilities include coordinating people and resources, managing operational performance, safeguarding compliance and providing personal technical oversight where needed. Key Responsibilities
- Anticipate future capability and resourcing needs
- Head daily technical operations at several locations
- Deploy workforce and resources in line with planned compliance and inspection schedules
- Lead a geographically dispersed technical team with clarity
- Establish uniform standards of technical quality, safety and service
- Review utilisation, job margins and work-in-progress figures
- Assess inspector capability and assign the appropriately experienced person to each task
- Exercise strict governance over authorised scopes and accreditation requirements
- Embed a strong health and safety culture in field operations
- Own the resolution of complex or escalated client matters
- Step in on site to supervise when added expertise or capacity is required
- Collaborate with technical services, compliance and finance colleagues
- Advance continuous improvement in operations and sustainable business growth, without compromising technical standards
Requirements & Eligibility
- Track record in leading or managing a field-based or technical team
- Strong practical foundation in a trade or technical discipline
- Relevant qualification at trade, technical or tertiary level
- Demonstrated skill in planning and prioritising work under pressure
- Commercial literacy covering utilisation, job costing, margins and work in progress
- Capability to lead experienced professionals and hold them to clear standards
- Sound command of technical scope, authorisation and compliance
- Exposure to ISO/IEC 17020 or ISO/IEC 17025 operating environments is advantageous
- Electricity distribution or related technical industry experience is advantageous
- Well-developed skills in decision-making, communication and problem-solving
- Experience handling client relationships and issues that have been escalated
- Full driver's licence plus readiness to travel between sites as required
