Motor Mechanic

Qualified automotive tradespeople looking to build an overseas career will find a solid entry point here. A growing automotive operation is recruiting a Light Vehicle Mechanic who can demonstrate genuine trade skills, practical experience and a professional approach to maintenance and repair.

The successful mechanic will take ownership of servicing, fault diagnosis and repairs, upholding high standards of safety and workmanship.

Engagement begins on a 6-month contract, available on a full-time or part-time basis, and strong performers may progress into a permanent position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct vehicle fault diagnosis, verifying issues through testing and inspection and identifying defective or worn mechanical and electronic components
  • Undertake mechanical repairs to engines, transmissions, steering and braking systems, alongside wheel alignment and air-conditioning-related servicing and repairs
  • Perform scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance in line with service specifications
  • Assess and repair vehicles involved in accidents or requiring restoration, and confirm roadworthiness, safety and compliance with applicable state regulations
  • Document all vehicle inspections, servicing, repairs and maintenance in detail
  • Partner with the vehicle operations team to keep vehicles available for customer bookings
  • Determine spare parts requirements, support workshop inventory management and report technical findings, repair needs and cost estimates to management
  • Maintain a safe, orderly and clean workshop that meets WorkSafe requirements
  • Apply consistent quality, reliability and attention to detail across all work
  • Work efficiently, whether independently or in collaboration with the wider team

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Strong English communication skills in both written and spoken form
  • Recognised trade qualification in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent
  • A minimum of 3 years' relevant professional experience in a Motor Mechanic role
  • Demonstrated hands-on capability in vehicle diagnosis, servicing and repair, including inspection and diagnosis of mechanical and electronic vehicle systems
  • Current driver's licence
  • An IELTS Band 6 or above result is preferred
  • Ability to articulate technical problems, repair options and estimated costs clearly
  • Strong analytical and diagnostic capabilities
  • Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Effective organisation and time-management abilities
  • High attention to detail and dedication to quality workmanship
  • Capacity to work effectively both independently and within a team
  • Commitment to workplace safety and vehicle roadworthiness
