For a fabricator or welder planning a long-term career in Australia, this Perth role combines core trade work with room to grow. An established fencing manufacturer is adding a Metal Fabricator / Welder to its manufacturing team to cut, shape and assemble steel, fabricate frames and gates, and carry out MIG welding, and the position offers scope to learn other areas of the factory.
Eligibility is limited to skilled tradespeople already in Australia with valid working rights; this includes Working Holiday visa holders (417/462) who meet the skills and experience requirements. The potential longer-term pathway is employer sponsorship on the subclass 482 Skills in Demand visa, which is subject to the occupation, skills assessment and immigration requirements.

Key Responsibilities
- Cut, shape and prepare steel, assembling components accurately
- Fabricate frames, gates and further steel products
- Perform MIG and other applicable welding processes
- Interpret drawings and specifications and operate the machinery, equipment and hand tools involved
- Carry out quality and accuracy inspections on finished welds and products, while learning other areas of the operation and assisting other teams as required
Requirements & Eligibility
- Qualification route: Certificate III/IV in metal fabrication or welding, or a comparable overseas trade qualification
- On the qualification route, at least 12 months of relevant skilled work in the past five years
- Experience route: at least three years of skilled metal fabrication and/or professional welding experience, without formal qualifications
- Documentary evidence through payslips and employer references of employment dates and skilled duties
- Demonstrable practical welding and fabrication competency
- Current residence in Australia with valid working rights
- Willingness to undertake a formal skills assessment where required
