For an accountant who wants to move beyond transactional work and towards commercial decision-making, this Sydney opportunity offers real scope. A project-based construction company with a growing operation is hiring a Management Accountant to add strength to its finance team.
You will report to the CFO and work across financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash management and finance systems. Senior leadership will rely on you with important numbers, and you will see up close how commercial decisions are made inside a well-established Australian company.

Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the CFO and finance team on commercial and project initiatives, and collaborate with operational teams in a complex construction environment
- Lead month-end close and reconciliations, keeping the general ledger and wider financial records accurate
- Produce the monthly P&L, balance sheet and cash flow statements
- Interpret financial results and prepare analysis and reports that give management practical insight
- Contribute to the yearly budget, rolling forecasts and overhead planning
- Keep track of how the business is performing financially
- Manage day-to-day cash activity and contribute to forecasts of cash flow
- Drive improvements to finance processes and the accuracy of reporting
- Safeguard data reliability across accounting systems and integrations so finance systems stay sound and efficient
Requirements & Eligibility
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or an associated discipline relevant to this role
- Holds CA or CPA status, or is currently progressing towards it
- Firm grasp of accounting principles and financial reporting, including practical month-end procedures
- A background covering management reporting, budgeting or forecasting
- Strong capability across Excel and financial systems
- Capacity to analyse financial information, recognise issues or opportunities and remain precise with financial detail
- Clear communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work productively alongside finance and non-finance teams
- Having worked in construction or project-based accounting is advantageous; familiarity with Jobpac is equally advantageous
- Big 4, mid-tier audit or Business Services backgrounds: strong candidates from these areas are encouraged to apply
- Applicants who have approximately 6–12 months or more in commercial accounting may also be considered
