Maintenance Foreperson

Practical road maintenance experience can be the foundation for a leadership career in New Zealand's infrastructure sector. This Maintenance Foreperson role in Marlborough puts you in charge of day-to-day roading maintenance operations.

Relevant international roading experience will be considered, making this an option for civil and roading professionals from India and other countries with verifiable records.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct a small road maintenance crew with hands-on leadership and guidance, taking independent operational decisions where required
- Schedule each day's work programme, set maintenance priorities and keep watch over both routine and urgent activities
- Survey roads for defects, hazards and potential safety risks, and evaluate each issue to determine the appropriate corrective action
- Document defects and maintenance information using GPS and tablet systems
- Organise emergency responses and urgent road repairs
- Oversee the standard of work, crew performance and contractor activities
- Uphold health, safety and traffic management compliance
- Engage with clients, contractors and operational teams to keep maintenance programmes on track
- Serve on an on-call roster covering incidents and emergency call-outs
- Attend night-time incidents, animal hazards and other urgent road issues
Requirements & Eligibility
- A proven background in road maintenance or civil construction, including previous roading experience at supervisory or foreman level
- In-depth understanding of road construction materials and maintenance techniques
- Demonstrated capacity to lead and coordinate a small crew, supported by good communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong planning, organisational and decision-making capability, with the ability to operate independently as conditions change
- Confidence with tablets, GPS and basic computer systems; experience with AWM or RAMM is highly advantageous
- Strong commitment to workplace health and safety, together with an understanding of traffic management requirements
- Composure and effectiveness when responding to emergency situations
- Class 2 New Zealand driver's licence or equivalent
- Relevant international roading experience will be considered
- Capacity to supply verifiable records of employment, qualifications and experience
