Maintenance Fitters & Electrical Fitter Mechanic

The work extends well beyond routine maintenance: you will apply a verified trade qualification, hands-on experience and technical problem-solving to maintain automated production equipment, respond to breakdowns and lift equipment reliability. Safety, technical accuracy and dependable workmanship are essential in this professional maintenance environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with reliability improvements through investigation of recurring failures
  • Diagnose mechanical breakdowns and faults, then repair, replace and maintain the affected machinery components
  • Deliver planned preventative maintenance and routine servicing
  • Inspect production machinery to identify potential maintenance issues
  • Troubleshoot electrical and automated production equipment, diagnosing electrical faults and restoring machinery to operational condition
  • Work on PLC-controlled equipment and automated production systems, including VSDs and related electrical control equipment where required
  • Support planned shutdowns and maintenance projects
  • Collaborate with production teams to minimise equipment downtime
  • Ensure safe, efficient operation of manufacturing equipment in line with workplace health, electrical, food safety and quality procedures
  • Contribute to continuous improvement across maintenance

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Recognised trade qualification: Mechanical Fitter or Fitter & Turner
  • Certificate III Electrical or Electrical Fitter Mechanic qualification for those applying for electrical positions
  • Electrical applicants need a minimum 5 years' industrial electrical experience and VSD experience
  • Proven maintenance background in industrial or manufacturing settings, including the maintenance of automated production machinery
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills in practice, plus experience with preventative maintenance programs
  • PLC experience (Allen Bradley or Siemens) is preferred
  • Current unrestricted Class C driver's licence
  • A High Risk Electrical Work Licence is desirable
  • Experience using MEX or a similar maintenance management system is desirable
  • Strong commitment to safety and to quality workmanship
  • Clear communication with production and maintenance teams, balancing independent work with effective teamwork
  • Availability for rotating 12-hour shifts across days, nights and weekends
  • An Australian-recognised trade qualification is required for sponsorship consideration
  • Sponsorship is available to suitably qualified candidates who are already based in Australia
