Maintenance Fitter

For mechanical tradespeople focused on long-term career growth, this Maintenance Fitter role with an established FMCG manufacturing operation in Western Australia centres on equipment reliability rather than simply responding once something breaks.

Your technical knowledge will be put to work across planned maintenance, mechanical fault-finding, repairs, inspections and improvement projects, directly helping production keep moving. The employer is seeking a qualified, hands-on professional with genuine trade experience and a clear appreciation of preventative maintenance in a fast-moving plant. Candidates are assessed on verifiable qualifications, real employment experience and technical capability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver preventative maintenance, scheduled servicing and inspections across production machinery and fixed plant
  • Attend promptly to breakdowns and equipment failures, diagnosing faults and completing repairs that minimise lost production time
  • Examine machinery to pick up mechanical issues at an early stage
  • Service and maintain conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, motors, bearings and pneumatic equipment
  • Assist with production changeovers and equipment modifications
  • Support equipment upgrades and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Get to the root of recurring faults and propose corrective actions
  • Keep accurate maintenance and service documentation
  • Partner with production personnel to support reliable plant operation
  • Comply with workplace health and safety requirements as well as food manufacturing, hygiene and site-specific procedures
  • Contribute to a proactive, professional maintenance culture

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade, Mechanical Fitting or equivalent qualification
  • Demonstrated track record as a qualified Maintenance Fitter
  • Industry experience in FMCG, food manufacturing or high-volume production
  • Strong capability in diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical faults
  • Experience looking after automated production equipment, fixed plant, conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, motors, bearings and pneumatic systems
  • A practical grasp of preventative maintenance strategy
  • Confidence across both planned and breakdown maintenance work
  • Strong commitment to safety, machinery reliability and production efficiency
  • Capable of working alone while adding value to a maintenance team
  • Good communicator with practical problem-solving skills
  • Open to rotating day and afternoon shifts
  • Trade qualifications and employment experience that are genuine and can be verified
