Line Chef

Develop your culinary career with a new premium Italian-inspired dining operation in New Zealand. Reliable skills, solid experience and trusted professional standards sit at the heart of this kitchen, and it is now recruiting an experienced Chef de Partie.

Chefs with genuine commercial kitchen backgrounds who own their work will thrive here. Joining at the outset, you will help shape how the kitchen operates, cook with seasonal produce and contribute to fresh pasta, pizzettas and other Italian-inspired plates, valuable experience for long-term progression.

Expect to demonstrate proven technique, consistency, organisation and composure in a professional service setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to team development and to establishing strong kitchen practices
  • Take full responsibility for an allocated section during preparation
  • Remain accountable for that section throughout service
  • Produce dishes that meet established recipes and presentation standards
  • Assist with fresh pasta preparation
  • Support traditional dough production
  • Deliver consistent quality, portion sizes, presentation and timing across every service
  • Complete mise en place so your section is fully ready for daily operations
  • Contribute to ordering, stock control, food cost management and inventory processes
  • Adhere to New Zealand hygiene and food safety requirements
  • Keep your workstation clean, orderly and efficient
  • Collaborate closely with the Head Chef, the Sous Chef and the broader kitchen brigade
  • Foster a disciplined and professional kitchen culture

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Minimum 3–5 years working as a chef in relevant professional roles, with proven time in commercial kitchens that includes busy or high-volume service
  • A background in Italian cuisine is strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated capacity to run a kitchen section independently
  • In-depth grasp of hygiene, food safety and food preparation
  • Sound working understanding of commercial kitchen systems and stock control
  • A relevant cookery qualification such as NZ Level 4 or equivalent is preferred
  • Well-developed organisational skills and a detail-focused approach
  • Capacity to uphold consistent standards when the pressure is on
  • Willingness to cover evenings and weekends as part of a six-day operation
  • Applicants must have legal work rights in New Zealand or meet Accredited Employer Work Visa requirements; overseas candidates holding suitable qualifications and experience may be eligible for sponsorship
