Leading Hand Cabinetmaker

For a trade-qualified cabinetmaker, moving into leadership is a natural career milestone. An established cabinetry and joinery business in Queensland is recruiting two experienced Cabinetmakers to step up as Leading Hand.

The position blends hands-on production work with responsibility for supporting a small team and keeping the workshop operating efficiently. Candidates should be able to demonstrate their cabinetmaking background, technical capability and leadership experience, and have it verified.

Key Responsibilities

Coordinate daily workshop workflow and production output
Lead cabinetmakers and apprentices, offering hands-on support and technical guidance
Fabricate and assemble cabinetry and joinery items using the workshop's machinery and equipment
Interpret project plans, specifications and drawings
Verify measurements, workmanship and finished product quality
Oversee quality and productivity across production, and help troubleshoot production issues
Assist with installation work as needed
Uphold a safe, well-organised workshop environment
Contribute to meeting quality targets and production deadlines

Requirements & Eligibility

Previous experience as a Leading Hand or in a supervisory capacity is preferred
Qualified to trade level as a Cabinetmaker, with Certificate III or equivalent
Substantial professional experience in cabinetmaking and joinery, plus demonstrated hands-on technical capability
Leadership ability to direct and support a small team, with a strong understanding of workshop production
Competence in interpreting technical drawings and plans
Effective communication and organisational skills
High attention to detail and to quality standards, and a reliable, safety-conscious way of working
Relevant experience must be evidenced by appropriate qualifications and employment history
Visa sponsorship may be considered for eligible overseas candidates
