HR and Recruitment Team Lead

Leading a small HR and Recruitment function, you will own the processes linking operational teams with suitable talent, from analysing workforce needs and assessing candidate experience to supporting verification and coordinating onboarding. The aim is a transparent, dependable hiring journey grounded in structured recruitment, clear workforce processes and strong people management.

The scope spans workshop, metropolitan and project-based operations as well as local and international recruitment, valuable experience for HR professionals from India and elsewhere building their careers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with operational leaders to identify current and future workforce requirements
  • Develop talent pipelines that support upcoming projects and workforce growth
  • Lead, coach and develop the HR and Recruitment team towards workforce objectives
  • Design recruitment processes that enable accurate candidate assessment and trusted hiring outcomes
  • Oversee full-cycle recruitment across blue-collar and white-collar roles
  • Assess candidate experience, employment history, qualifications and relevant documentation
  • Coordinate onboarding and mobilisation across workshop, metropolitan and project-based employees
  • Support recruitment and processing of international and employer-sponsored candidates, including sponsorship requirements, compliance documentation and liaison with relevant migration providers
  • Manage labour hire providers and external recruitment suppliers
  • Provide guidance on employee relations, performance management, disciplinary matters, investigations and grievances in line with relevant Australian employment legislation, Modern Awards, Enterprise Agreements and internal policies
  • Analyse workforce data, HR metrics and recruitment performance
  • Coordinate employee reviews, training initiatives and skills matrix needs
  • Identify improvements to recruitment systems, HR processes and operational efficiency

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Experience across workforce planning, employee relations and performance management
  • Minimum 5 years in senior HR and recruitment leadership
  • Proven track record delivering full-cycle recruitment for high-volume blue-collar workforces
  • Experience across candidate assessment, employment documentation and recruitment compliance; knowledge of employer-sponsored visas and international recruitment is highly desirable
  • In-depth understanding of Australian employment legislation, Modern Awards and Enterprise Agreements
  • Exposure to construction, mining, fabrication, resources or heavy industrial environments is highly regarded
  • Demonstrated capability to lead, mentor and develop people
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capability
  • Proactive, practical and solutions-oriented, balancing competing priorities in a fast-moving operational environment with strong organisational and administrative skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with HRIS and recruitment platforms
  • Eligible for employer sponsorship where required
