Heavy Vehicle Technician

Key Responsibilities

  • Keep up with evolving vehicle technology by taking part in ongoing training
  • Perform general servicing, maintenance and mechanical repairs on commercial vehicles and heavy trucks
  • Undertake advanced diagnostic and fault-finding work with modern equipment and technology
  • Complete electrical and mechanical repairs that meet manufacturer and industry standards
  • Identify vehicle issues efficiently and accurately through inspection and testing
  • Maintain a high standard of workmanship and safe completion of all repairs
  • Collaborate with technicians, service advisors and the parts department, and provide professional support and communication to customers
  • Produce accurate service records and workshop documentation
  • Adhere to workplace health and safety procedures at all times
  • Support efficient workshop operations and the achievement of service targets

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Relevant automotive qualification, with Diesel Mechanic status preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in mechanical repairs on trucks or heavy vehicles
  • Franchise truck dealership experience (preferred, not essential)
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems
  • Capability to diagnose and repair complex issues in vehicles
  • Commitment to quality workmanship
  • Focus on accuracy and efficiency
  • Genuine enthusiasm for the heavy vehicle and truck industry
  • Ability to work both independently and within a professional team
  • Holding a truck licence or forklift licence is advantageous
  • Suitably experienced applicants from New Zealand and overseas are encouraged to apply
