For a Heavy-Duty Diesel Mechanic aiming to grow on a modern fleet, this is a strong next step. The business is established and expanding, operating up-to-date heavy road transport equipment from a workshop purpose-built for it, and wants a qualified mechanic who cares about dependable equipment, precise diagnosis and high-quality mechanical work.
The role has a direct impact on how reliable the fleet is, how much downtime it sees and whether vehicles stay safe and on the road. Overseas-qualified mechanics from India and other countries are encouraged to apply, and eligible overseas candidates can be sponsored.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the workshop and transport crews so the fleet is available when it is needed
- Plan and complete routine and preventive servicing on heavy road transport vehicles
- Pinpoint the source of mechanical faults and choose the most effective fix
- Carry out servicing and repair work on multi-combination heavy trucks and prime movers
- Look after the Volvo and Mack Titan prime mover fleet
- Overhaul engines, transmissions, drivelines and other major assemblies, rebuilding or replacing components where needed
- Inspect vehicles in detail to catch emerging equipment problems early
- Attend breakdown call-outs and troubleshoot on the spot when required
- Keep every unit in the fleet compliant with high safety and operational benchmarks
- Produce thorough maintenance paperwork and keep service histories current
- Handle workshop tooling and diagnostic systems correctly and with care for safety
- Turn jobs around efficiently so vehicles return to service quickly
- Observe health, safety and environmental procedures and keep the workshop orderly and safe
Requirements & Eligibility
- Trade qualification as a Heavy-Duty Diesel Mechanic, formally recognised
- A proven track record working in the Heavy-Duty Diesel Mechanic role
- Solid hands-on maintenance experience across road transport and heavy vehicles
- Demonstrated work on multi-combination heavy trucks
- Highly regarded: experience on Volvo and/or Mack Titan prime movers
- Sharp diagnostic and mechanical fault-finding capability
- Background in preventative maintenance programs as well as major mechanical repairs and rebuilding components
- Essential: a current C Class Australian driver's licence
- Highly regarded: an HR licence
- A current National Police Clearance, or readiness to obtain one
- Comfortable working to a structured local roster
- Safety-conscious, detail-focused and dependable in all maintenance and repair tasks
- Clear communicator and cooperative team member
- Open to relocating to Western Australia if required
