HD Mechanic

For experienced HD Mechanics looking to take their career into an international environment, this role is a chance to apply proven heavy mining equipment skills within a major mining operation.
Suitability is judged on practical capability: diagnosing faults, maintaining complex machinery and keeping critical equipment running safely and reliably. Your trade qualification, employment history and hands-on equipment experience will all be central to that assessment.
The position runs on a 2/1 roster and offers quality tooling, competitive remuneration and overtime opportunities. It begins with a 12-month contract that may be extended, giving you international experience to build a longer career on.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver servicing, planned preventative maintenance and scheduled inspections for heavy mobile mining equipment
- Investigate mechanical faults through accurate diagnostics
- Troubleshoot equipment performance to uncover underlying faults
- Carry out component repairs and replacements as the job demands
- Apply technical documentation and diagnostic data during repair work
- Build expertise on Sandvik, Epiroc, CAT, Komatsu, Hitachi and comparable equipment
- Contribute to equipment availability and reduced operational downtime
- Execute maintenance according to site procedures and document all completed repairs, inspections and maintenance activities
- Uphold high standards of workplace safety in every task
- Collaborate with site teams to support dependable mining operations
Requirements & Eligibility
- Recognised trade qualification (Heavy Diesel, HD or Mobile Plant Mechanic) with at least 5 years of post-trade industry experience
- Demonstrated background on heavy mobile plant or mining machinery, including practical experience with major OEM equipment and with Sandvik, Epiroc, CAT, Komatsu or Hitachi units
- Strong fault-finding, diagnostic and mechanical repair capability
- Work history backed by relevant employment documentation, plus the ability to demonstrate genuine hands-on technical experience
- Willingness to work a 2/1 roster
- Capacity to work safely in a demanding mining environment
- Willingness to relocate to the USA
- Ability to meet applicable visa and sponsorship requirements
