Two experienced Floor Layers are needed by an expanding flooring team in Queensland, which offers a steady pipeline of residential, commercial, retail and new-build projects.

The role is designed for flooring professionals whose track record can be clearly shown through previous jobs. You will put your expertise to use on carpet and vinyl installations, building broad exposure across different project types and sites.

Key Responsibilities

Interpret plans to decide which flooring materials each project needs
Inspect work areas and record precise measurements
Lift old floor coverings and get every subfloor correctly prepared
Lay broadloom carpet, taking care of underlay, gripper, seaming and stretching
Fit carpet tiles on both residential and commercial projects
Complete luxury vinyl plank flooring jobs
Cut, fit and finish all flooring materials with precision
Fit trims, thresholds and edge finishes
Undertake repairs and rectification as the job requires
Deliver consistently high-quality workmanship across every installation
Look after vehicles, tools and job sites so they stay safe and well organised
Collaborate with customers, builders and other trades while meeting Australian standards for workplace safety and flooring installation

Requirements & Eligibility

Minimum 3 years' professional background as a Floor Layer, with demonstrated practical work in broadloom carpet and/or vinyl plank
In-depth knowledge of subfloor preparation, plus precise measuring and the capacity to work from plans
A proven record of completing installations to a professional standard
Current driver's licence and current construction White Card, each held prior to commencement
Good communication and customer-facing skills
Dependable, with the physical capability that flooring work demands
Comfortable working alone and as a member of an installation team
Highly regarded: commercial sheet vinyl background covering welding, coving and wall vinyl
Also highly regarded: advanced floor preparation, and floating floor or engineered timber installation
