You will join a professional engineering and maintenance operation that supports industrial equipment in its workshop and across client environments. The scope is broad: mechanical maintenance, equipment overhauls, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, fault diagnosis and capital improvement projects.
Candidates need genuine hands-on experience and a strong record in heavy industrial, workshop or site-based settings. International applicants, including skilled tradespeople from India, are assessed on verified qualifications and employment experience, and eligible applicants may be considered for employer-sponsored visa pathways.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate equipment issues and carry out mechanical fault diagnosis
- Deliver maintenance, repairs and overhauls on industrial machinery and mechanical equipment
- Perform mechanical fitting and assembly across workshop and client-site environments
- Service fixed plant, mobile equipment and related mechanical systems
- Apply mechanical drawings, specifications and technical documentation to each task
- Evaluate equipment requirements and determine suitable materials, tools and work methods
- Examine and measure components, identifying wear, damage and defects and verifying dimensions, tolerances, alignment and fit
- Shape and modify metal components using cutting, grinding, pressing and forming processes
- Handle installation and upkeep of fluid power systems and hydraulic and pneumatic pipework, including pipe threading, bending and cutting
- Execute planned preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs
- Contribute to machinery refurbishment and rebuilds, equipment improvement programs, sustainable capital works and mechanical upgrade projects
- Document maintenance findings and communicate technical information to relevant stakeholders
- Operate in line with established safety procedures and Zero Harm principles
- Partner with supervisors, fellow trades and site personnel to deliver efficient outcomes and consistently professional workmanship
Requirements & Eligibility
- Qualified tradesperson holding a recognised Fitting and Turning qualification or an equivalent in a mechanical trade
- Minimum 5 years in mechanical fitting roles relevant to this position
- Industry exposure in heavy industry, industrial workshops, manufacturing or site-based maintenance
- Proven practical capability in maintaining and repairing mechanical equipment
- Exposure to fixed plant, mobile equipment, hydraulic or pneumatic systems
- Competence in interpreting mechanical drawings and technical specifications, and in using precision measuring instruments and mechanical tools
- Advanced fault-finding and troubleshooting skills on mechanical systems
- An employment record relevant to the role that can be demonstrated and verified, with supporting evidence for qualifications and practical trade experience
- Thorough grasp of workplace health and safety requirements
- Dedication to a Zero Harm, safety-focused workplace
- Capacity to perform independently and contribute effectively within a professional team
- Previous leadership, mentoring or supervisory experience is advantageous
- Current driver's licence; able to complete a pre-employment medical and satisfy fitness-for-work requirements
- Openness to working across both workshop and client-site environments within Western Australia
- Suitably qualified international applicants with verified experience may be considered for 482 or 494 visa sponsorship or visa transfer
