Fire Technician / Carpenter

The position blends service, maintenance and construction activity on a variety of sites, covering fire-rated doors, passive fire protection systems, fire stopping and penetration sealing.

Success here depends on your practical experience, your trade background and your capacity to meet professional and compliance standards. Candidates should be able to evidence their past work, appreciate why compliant installation is critical and take responsibility for the accuracy and quality of what they deliver.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret plans, drawings, specifications and installation instructions, applying Australian Standards and manufacturer requirements to every job
  • Install, replace, repair and adjust fire-rated doors, door sets and existing fire doors
  • Deliver fire door maintenance and compliance-related works
  • Install passive fire penetration protection systems, including fire stopping and penetration sealing
  • Complete defect rectification together with associated carpentry works
  • Undertake scheduled servicing and maintenance, and contribute to new construction and installation projects
  • Inspect completed work to confirm quality and compliance
  • Maintain accurate records of works completed and site details
  • Apply workplace health and safety procedures
  • Communicate effectively with clients, supervisors and project personnel
  • Operate efficiently across commercial, residential and industrial environments

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Demonstrated hands-on capability in carpentry, fire protection, fire doors or a related trade, backed by genuine evidence of previous employment and trade experience
  • Strong practical skills, attention to detail and the problem-solving ability to identify issues and implement practical solutions
  • Sound understanding of quality and compliance requirements
  • Capability to interpret plans, specifications and technical instructions
  • A reliable, responsible work ethic and the ability to perform independently and within a professional team
  • Professional, client-facing communication skills
  • Current Australian driver's licence or the ability to obtain one where applicable
  • Construction White Card holder
  • Highly regarded: a relevant carpentry or trade qualification, and previous passive fire protection or fire door experience
  • Capacity to satisfy applicable sponsorship and visa eligibility requirements
