This is a specialist step for an Electrician or Junior Electrician in New South Wales who wants to move past standard electrical work into standby power, generator controls and critical building systems.
Working across commercial sites, you will handle generator testing, electrical upgrades, fault diagnosis and control systems, supported by engineering staff and with room to broaden your technical capability. Demonstrable, genuine electrical experience and solid trade knowledge sit at the centre of the role.

Key Responsibilities
- Partner with engineers on specialist generator projects
- Keep the electrical parts of standby generator installations in good working order
- Deliver the electrical scope of generator upgrades and modifications
- Run generator and emergency power tests while buildings are shut down
- Meet AFSS-related generator testing obligations
- Pinpoint faults in generator controllers, PLCs and control circuitry
- Check and troubleshoot Automatic Transfer Switches along with connected switchgear
- Use electrical schematics and single-line drawings to wire and test control systems
- Support generator commissioning and wider system upgrades
- Analyse technical issues and apply workable fixes
- Operate on your own while staying in contact with colleagues
- Contribute to telemetry and control-system applications
- Cover scheduled night and weekend works, with extra shutdown and overtime opportunities on offer
Requirements & Eligibility
- Generator controller experience with Deep Sea, Cummins, CAT or Woodward is advantageous
- Current NSW Electrical Licence is essential
- A proven electrical trade background, supported by a verifiable employment history that reflects real electrical capability
- Capacity to interpret electrical schematics and single-line diagrams
- A practical, tools-on mindset toward electrical work
- Confidence with electrical and trade tools
- Analytical ability to diagnose problems and progress toward workable solutions
- Comfort working alone when required
- Capacity to contribute effectively within a small team
- Interest in PLCs, control wiring, telemetry and standby power systems
- Must be based in Sydney or willing to relocate
- Full NSW Driver Licence required, together with the ability to drive a manual vehicle
- Availability for occasional night and weekend work
