If heavy vehicle maintenance is your field and you want to keep progressing, several workshops across Queensland have openings for Diesel and Truck Mechanics. Preference goes to technicians who developed their skills through substantial time on the tools and who can point to a strong history with diesel systems and heavy vehicles.

Each placement is about fit, pairing a mechanic's qualifications, technical background and practical capability with a workshop where those strengths matter. Applicants holding Australian industry experience are encouraged, and eligible candidates can be sponsored where required.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct inspections, servicing and repair work on trucks and other heavy vehicles
Trace engine, mechanical and other vehicle faults methodically, choosing suitable diagnostic tools and techniques
Overhaul and maintain diesel engines and heavy vehicle componentry, including suspension and brake systems
Service and fix trailers along with their related parts
Assess parts for wear, damage or failure and advise on the repairs needed
Bring every allocated job up to professional workshop standard and keep job cards and service paperwork precise
Schedule and perform preventative maintenance that keeps vehicles in service longer
Adhere to workshop safety procedures and manufacturer guidelines
Collaborate with fellow mechanics and the wider workshop team

Requirements & Eligibility

A trade qualification relevant to Diesel, Heavy Vehicle or Truck Mechanics
Minimum 5 years working in a relevant industry
Proven practical work on trucks or diesel-powered vehicles, covering diesel engines, trailers, suspension and brake systems
Well-developed diagnostic and fault-finding skills, with the capacity to pinpoint problems and repair them accurately
Solid practical grasp of how heavy vehicle mechanical systems work
Capacity to produce evidence of your relevant qualifications and employment history
Close attention to detail, quality-driven workmanship and the ability to operate safely and efficiently in a professional workshop
Australian mechanical experience is highly regarded
Onshore applicants holding valid work rights are welcome
