The role goes beyond basic farm-hand work. You will be involved across the complete cycle of dairy operations, from milking and feeding through to livestock management, calving support and general farm duties, all within a structured environment.
The employer is seeking a practical, dependable professional who is comfortable with cattle and values consistent animal care, and who can contribute to the farm's daily performance while developing long-term agricultural skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute at calving by supporting cows and assisting with newborn calves
- Feed and care for young calves in line with farm routines
- Participate in daily milking operations on a rotary dairy system
- Handle and move dairy cattle safely and efficiently
- Monitor livestock health and wellbeing, identifying animals that require additional care or attention
- Operate feeding equipment and distribute feed to livestock
- Support dairy operations across multiple farm locations
- Undertake routine cleaning and maintenance of dairy facilities
- Complete general farm duties as required
- Uphold safe and hygienic working conditions in line with animal welfare and workplace procedures
- Collaborate with farm management and fellow staff
- Deliver scheduled duties accurately and within required timeframes
Requirements & Eligibility
- Prior experience on a dairy farm or with livestock, including practical cattle handling
- Understanding of basic dairy farm routines and animal care
- Any milking experience will be highly regarded
- Capability to work safely around large livestock and farm machinery, with the physical capacity to stand, walk and carry out manual work for extended periods
- Strong work ethic, readiness to take initiative and a reliable, punctual, self-motivated approach
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organisational and time-management abilities
- Ability to follow instructions and farm procedures, working independently and within a team
- Must hold a valid driver's licence and have access to your own vehicle
- Willingness to live and work in Victoria
- Sponsorship available for the right applicant; this is a one-person position due to the accommodation available
