The position calls for an experienced tradesperson with demonstrable strength in mechanical, hydraulic and plant maintenance, whose capability is supported by formal qualifications and a relevant employment record. Work spans crushing, processing, quarry and mining machinery, covering upkeep, fault-finding, repairs and field service.

Duties alternate between the workshop and customer sites in metropolitan, regional and remote areas, giving skilled workers from India and elsewhere a varied environment in which to grow.

Key Responsibilities

Keep mobile and fixed crushing and processing plant in service through mechanical repairs, routine servicing and preventative maintenance
Establish the cause of equipment faults and define the repairs required
Trace hydraulic faults from schematics, manuals and technical data, backed by pressure and flow testing
Troubleshoot 12V and 24V electrical control systems, interpreting schematics and checking voltage and continuity
Carry out inspections and prepare equipment ahead of delivery
Work in line with OEM specifications and approved maintenance procedures
Deliver on-site servicing and technical assistance to clients across metropolitan, regional and remote areas
Travel to regional sites as the work demands
Record machine condition and advise on recommended remedial work
Produce technical service and condition reports
Keep precise records of inspections, repairs, settings and testing, supported by photographs of completed work
Liaise directly with clients on equipment issues and work carried out
Uphold safe work practices in both workshop and field settings

Requirements & Eligibility

Relevant trade qualification in Fitting, Boilermaking or a comparable mechanical trade, together with at least 2 years of post-training industry experience
Proven background on quarry or mining fixed plant
Relevant practical exposure to crushing and processing machinery, plus demonstrable mechanical maintenance and repair history
Working knowledge of hydraulic systems and fault diagnosis
Capacity to read and interpret hydraulic schematics as well as electrical schematics
Capacity to carry out basic electrical testing on 12V and 24V systems
Previous trade employment and experience that can be demonstrated and verified
Full unrestricted C Class Driver’s Licence
HR Licence is desirable
Forklift Licence is desirable
Physical fitness to complete manual and field-based work
Readiness to work across metropolitan, regional and remote locations
Capacity to pass a pre-employment medical and Drug and Alcohol screening
Strong mechanical problem-solving ability
Self-driven, proactive work style
Good communication and customer service skills, with a professional manner when working alongside customers and site teams
