Construction Technician/Assistant

Key Responsibilities
- Install reinforcing materials such as steel bars and mesh, measuring, cutting, securing and positioning them correctly
- Assist tradespeople and supervisors across residential, commercial and infrastructure construction, working with site teams to meet project deadlines and quality expectations
- Prepare worksites by organising materials, tools and equipment, and keep sites clean by removing construction waste
- Contribute to concrete work from preparation and mixing through pouring, spreading and finishing
- Assist trades including carpentry, bricklaying, roofing, flooring, plastering, painting, glazing, plumbing and drainage
- Undertake excavation, trenching, levelling and material handling during site preparation
- Support the installation of pipes, fittings, drainage components, construction systems and heating, cooling and ventilation pathways
- Operate hand tools and basic power tools safely to site requirements
- Set up temporary site structures and safety barriers and prepare work areas
- Identify and escalate hazards, defects or issues to supervisors while upholding health and safety procedures and PPE standards
- Complete further construction support tasks as required
Requirements & Eligibility
- Minimum 12 months of construction industry experience backed by proven practical exposure
- Capability to demonstrate genuine construction skills and prior site responsibilities
- Physical capacity for manual work in demanding environments
- Strong grasp of construction site procedures and safe work practices
- Hands-on experience with basic power tools and hand tools
- Ability to work within a team and act on supervisors' instructions
- Reliable attendance
- A positive attitude and willingness to contribute
- Commitment to learning New Zealand workplace expectations and construction standards
