Working with the Head Chef, you will help coordinate kitchen activities, support the culinary team, maintain food standards and contribute to the continuing development of the venue's food operations.

Selection will weigh your practical experience, trade qualifications, leadership skills and ability to deliver consistently during busy service, making it a good option for experienced chefs, in India or elsewhere, who are aiming for senior kitchen leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Chef in managing day-to-day kitchen operations
  • Assume responsibility for the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence
  • Coordinate preparation and service to sustain an efficient workflow
  • Lead the brigade through peak trading periods
  • Supervise staff and allocate duties clearly
  • Uphold consistent food quality, presentation, flavour and portion control
  • Contribute creative ideas to menu planning, seasonal offerings, specials and menu improvements
  • Track stock levels and support purchasing and supplier orders
  • Manage food costs and reduce unnecessary waste
  • Ensure compliance with HACCP, food safety, hygiene and workplace safety procedures, including correct food storage, preparation and handling
  • Train, guide and mentor developing kitchen staff to build their skills
  • Oversee kitchen cleanliness, organisation and equipment practices
  • Partner with management and front-of-house teams to sustain a respectful, accountable and professional environment

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Proven track record as a Sous Chef, Senior Chef or comparable senior kitchen professional
  • Formal qualification in Commercial Cookery, supported by evidence of relevant qualifications and professional experience
  • Solid background in commercial or hospitality kitchen operations
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervision of kitchen teams, backed by effective communication and leadership skills
  • Capability to manage high-volume service confidently while remaining calm and organised under pressure
  • Strong practical knowledge of food preparation and presentation
  • Sound understanding of HACCP, food hygiene and food safety requirements
  • Strong organisational and time management capabilities
  • Reliable, proactive and hands-on, with a strong commitment to quality and consistency
  • Willingness to take ownership and contribute to continuous improvement
  • Australian working rights or eligibility for employer sponsorship
  • Sponsorship available for a suitable and verified candidate
