Key Responsibilities
- Drive the kitchen's overall performance as the accountable lead
- Organise daily food preparation and the wider running of the kitchen
- Provide leadership and hands-on support to the kitchen team throughout service
- Cook high-quality meals spanning a varied commercial menu
- Produce steaks and the other core dishes to a reliable, consistent standard
- Evaluate the existing menu and put forward improvements, including new dinner, takeaway and dine-in selections
- Revitalise the breakfast menu
- Safeguard food quality, presentation and portion consistency
- Plan ahead for high-volume service periods
- Oversee stock levels and replenishment while managing food usage to reduce avoidable wastage
- Keep the kitchen's workflows efficient
- Oversee food safety, hygiene and cleanliness requirements
- Mentor kitchen staff and contribute to their training and development
- Collaborate with management on improving the food operation and maintain professional standards across all services
Requirements & Eligibility
- A relevant culinary qualification and/or strong equivalent experience in the industry
- Demonstrated professional experience in the role of Chef, gained in a busy commercial or high-volume kitchen
- Strong food preparation and cooking capability, including a proven ability to cook steaks to a high standard
- Exposure to menu development or menu improvement
- Capacity to manage kitchen responsibilities independently
- Strong team coordination and leadership skills
- Effectiveness in a fast-paced working environment
- Strong focus on consistency and food quality
- Good organisational and communication skills
- Availability for a rotating roster and willingness to live on-site as required
- Commitment to food hygiene and workplace safety standards
