Being part of a restaurant opening is a valuable career milestone. A hospitality business in Queensland is preparing to open a new venue and wants an experienced Chef whose practical skills, dependability and leadership in the kitchen can carry that launch.

The search centres on culinary professionals with a proven commercial kitchen background, steady food preparation standards and a collaborative approach. If you have genuine hands-on experience and are comfortable taking ownership in a busy kitchen, your application is welcome.

This full-time role pays $70,000–$80,000 per annum plus superannuation. Chefs from India and elsewhere who want opening-team experience and leadership on their profile will find it a strong fit.

Key Responsibilities

Produce menu dishes to the required recipes and standards, with uniform flavour, plating and portions
Lead day-to-day kitchen flow during peak trading, keeping preparation and service procedures efficient
Shape new menu ideas and refine existing recipes
Mentor and train junior team members in the kitchen
Uphold food safety compliance alongside high standards of cleanliness and workplace safety
Oversee stock use, forecast ordering needs and drive stock rotation to reduce waste
Contribute to cost control and a more efficient operation
Liaise clearly with kitchen colleagues and front-of-house staff

Requirements & Eligibility

Relevant cookery qualification is preferred, combined with at least 3 years of professional Chef experience
Demonstrated practical background in a commercial kitchen
In-depth grasp of food preparation and cooking procedures
Working knowledge of food safety and workplace health and safety requirements
Capacity to balance competing kitchen priorities without letting quality drop during high-volume service
Well-developed teamwork and communication skills
Dependable, committed work ethic
Experience with Mexican cuisine is advantageous
Availability to undertake interstate training when required; sponsorship consideration is open to suitably qualified applicants
