Key Responsibilities
- Take charge of cooking and food preparation to a high standard each day, steering the kitchen from the first prep through to the end of service
- Plan mise en place so every service runs on schedule
- Ensure dishes leave the pass with uniform quality, plating and portion sizes
- Shape menu updates, seasonal specials and inventive food concepts
- Strengthen margins through food costing and pricing, stock control, tracking waste and finding efficiencies
- Uphold hygiene, food safety and workplace compliance
- Mentor less experienced cooks and foster a positive, professional culture in the kitchen
Requirements & Eligibility
- Demonstrated background as a Chef or experienced Cook in a commercial kitchen, supported by a relevant culinary qualification or a strong, proven track record in the industry
- A work history that can be verified, plus practical skills you are able to demonstrate
- Sound grasp of kitchen operations, stock management and food costing
- Capacity to stay efficient under the pressure of a fast-paced hospitality setting while keeping close attention to detail and dedication to food quality
- Dependable work ethic, professional communication and the ability to cooperate well with kitchen and service teams
- Openness to relocating and establishing a career in New Zealand
- Employer-supported visa sponsorship may be considered for eligible candidates, depending on skills, experience and New Zealand immigration requirements
