In the role, you will take ownership of your section, keep food and presentation standards consistent through busy services and collaborate with senior chefs and the broader hospitality team. Chefs from India and elsewhere who have developed strong commercial kitchen skills will find real scope here to progress professionally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook menu items using sound commercial cooking techniques
  • Hold food quality, portion control and presentation to a consistent standard
  • Plan and organise the daily mise en place in line with service requirements
  • Take full ownership of an assigned section from preparation through to service
  • Confirm the section is service-ready and communicate its needs to senior chefs
  • Perform efficiently through high-volume and peak trading periods
  • Collaborate with chefs, apprentices and front-of-house colleagues, supporting apprentices with practical tasks and established procedures
  • Uphold high standards of personal hygiene and workstation cleanliness
  • Apply food safety, HACCP and workplace health and safety procedures
  • Support correct food storage, stock rotation and kitchen organisation
  • Contribute to professional, efficient day-to-day kitchen operations

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Minimum 2 years of genuine commercial kitchen experience
  • A Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or an equivalent qualification
  • Prior work in high-volume hospitality environments
  • Capability to operate a kitchen section with limited supervision, which you can demonstrate
  • Strong practical cooking and knife skills
  • Sound understanding of professional food preparation and service procedures
  • Consistency in meeting quality and presentation expectations
  • Employment history and experience that must be capable of verification; qualifications and supporting documentation must also be available where required
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities
  • Reliable, responsible and professional in your approach
  • Organised and composed under the pressure of busy services, and available for rotating shifts including nights, weekends and public holidays
  • Full working rights in Australia
  • Willingness to complete a 6-month probationary period
