Key Responsibilities
- Cook Asian dishes in line with set recipes and quality benchmarks, drawing on practical knowledge of Asian techniques
- Organise, plan and coordinate what each day's prep and cooking requires
- Contribute to menu planning and to estimates of food and labour costs
- Oversee quality, consistency, portioning and presentation, flagging problems and proposing practical improvements
- Ready sauces, ingredients and other components ahead of service
- Order and control food supplies based on kitchen needs
- Run commercial ovens, grills and other cooking equipment while holding correct temperatures and food handling standards
- Apply hygiene and food safety procedures consistently, including when catering for special dietary needs
- Escalate kitchen issues and preparation concerns to management and collaborate closely with kitchen and service teams
- Model sound cooking methods for colleagues and help train and develop the kitchen team when required
- Support food preservation, freezing and storage as required
- Keep a clean, organised and efficient workspace
Requirements & Eligibility
- Relevant formal cookery qualification and/or a minimum of three years of relevant professional experience
- Demonstrated professional experience in Asian cuisine preparation
- Capacity to demonstrate genuine hands-on cooking skills
- Strong understanding of how commercial kitchens are run
- Capability to consistently recreate dishes in line with established recipes
- Experience upholding food quality and presentation benchmarks
- Sound understanding of food hygiene, food safety and safe kitchen practices
- Effectiveness as part of a structured, high-performing team
- Strong attention to detail
- Readiness to follow instructions, procedures and established kitchen systems
- Reliable, dependable and professional in approach, with ethical workplace conduct
- Capacity to communicate clearly with management and colleagues
- Composure and productivity during busy service periods, with a willingness to take responsibility and contribute to operational improvements
