Key Responsibilities
- Hold end-to-end ownership of daily kitchen operations and service, with accountability for overall kitchen performance and standards
- Build the capability of chefs and kitchen staff through leadership, supervision, training and mentoring of junior team members
- Orchestrate preparation, cooking and service, and steer the team through high-volume and peak periods
- Safeguard consistent quality, presentation and portion control, ensuring recipes, preparation methods and portion standards are applied every time
- Shape menus, specials and seasonal food offerings
- Keep food, labour and operational costs under review
- Oversee stock ordering, inventory and supplier requirements, embedding effective wastage reduction and stock-control practices
- Uphold rigorous food safety, hygiene and cleaning standards
- Optimise workflow and operational efficiency, diagnosing issues and implementing practical solutions
- Partner with venue management and the broader hospitality team
- Sustain a professional, structured and positive kitchen culture
Requirements & Eligibility
- Demonstrated track record as a Head Chef, Sous Chef or senior kitchen professional, including proven capacity to lead a commercial kitchen independently
- Accomplished hands-on cooking and food preparation ability
- Experience leading kitchen teams and delegating, with a professional approach to team leadership and staff development
- Working knowledge of food costing, labour control, stock management and wastage
- Thorough command of food safety and hygiene requirements
- Experience within pubs, hotels, clubs or high-volume hospitality environments is advantageous
- Capacity to deliver quality and consistency in busy services while remaining composed and effective under pressure
- Well-developed organisational, time-management, communication and interpersonal capabilities
- Readiness to take an active, hands-on role within the kitchen
- Relevant culinary qualifications and/or substantial industry experience
