Experienced Chefs ready to move into kitchen leadership will find a meaningful opportunity in this Chef Manager role, based in a residential aged care setting on the Far North Coast of NSW.
The position carries responsibility for kitchen operations and suits a professional who can demonstrate qualifications, practical expertise and the capability to lead a team while sustaining high standards. Strong culinary skills need to be supported by real experience, leadership and a professional track record.
A central part of the role is creating meals that are nutritious, enjoyable and matched to the individual needs of residents, while keeping kitchen operations efficient and compliant with food safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Shape a positive and professional culture within the kitchen team
- Lead kitchen staff, providing supervision and support
- Oversee daily kitchen operations and coordinate food preparation
- Plan and produce high-quality meals for residents
- Modify meals to meet dietary, nutritional and individual requirements
- Monitor the quality, presentation and consistency of food
- Uphold food safety, hygiene and HACCP procedures
- Coordinate kitchen schedules and workflow while ensuring efficient use of food, equipment and resources
- Identify improvements to kitchen and dining operations and implement them
- Collaborate with care and support teams
- Develop respectful relationships with residents, their families and colleagues
- Maintain compliance with applicable workplace and food safety standards
Requirements & Eligibility
- Recognised Chef qualification supported by verifiable documentation
- Demonstrated professional Chef experience, including earlier kitchen supervision or management roles
- Background in high-volume or large-scale catering operations
- Strong working knowledge of HACCP and food safety requirements
- Capability to produce varied, nutritious and high-quality meals, informed by an understanding of dietary and nutritional requirements
- Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills, applied through a reliable and organised approach to kitchen management
- Prior experience in aged care, healthcare, hospitality or institutional catering is advantageous
- Capacity to provide evidence of qualifications and relevant work experience
- Capacity to meet applicable Australian employment and visa requirements
