Key Responsibilities

  • Execute Japanese dishes in line with established kitchen standards
  • Complete mise en place and food preparation ahead of service
  • Ensure consistency in food quality, presentation and portion control
  • Manage preparation efficiently throughout evening operations
  • Support the kitchen team through peak service periods
  • Adhere to established recipes, preparation methods and procedures
  • Uphold food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness standards, storing and handling ingredients correctly to protect quality
  • Contribute to stock preparation and overall kitchen organisation
  • Communicate effectively with chefs and colleagues
  • Respond constructively to instructions, feedback and training while fostering a respectful, cooperative and productive culture
  • Deliver consistent performance and reliability across scheduled shifts

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Relevant experience of minimum 2 years in Japanese cuisine or professional kitchens
  • Proven commercial kitchen background with practical cooking capability
  • Genuine understanding of Japanese food preparation and kitchen operations
  • Effectiveness in a fast-paced service environment, with a calm, organised approach under pressure
  • Strong attendance, reliability and personal accountability
  • Professional attitude and good workplace discipline, with respectful communication and strong teamwork
  • A positive approach to learning and professional development
  • Willingness to undertake training and adapt to workplace requirements
  • Demonstrated commitment to a stable, long-term hospitality career
  • Valid Australian work rights required, with sponsorship available for the right onshore candidate if a suitable full-time position becomes available
